John Barnes is best known for playing for Liverpool and England during his footballing career, and now works as a football commentator ESPN and SuperSport.

But how many kids does the retired footballer actually have?

John Barnes Children- Marriage Number One

John Barnes has seven children in total- four daughters and three sons- from two separate marriages. And it seems that John Barnes’ children are fairly successful!

The Celebrity Big Brother star was married to Suzy Barnes from 1991-2001. He and wife Suzy had four children during their time together; Jamie, Jordan, Jemma, and Jasmine.

John was just 21 years old when he became a dad for the first time to his eldest son, Jamie, who is now 31.

Son Jamie is a consultant plastic surgeon and deals with car crashes and burns, while John’s second eldest son Jordan, 29, got a first in maths from Leeds University and is now a banker. Impressive stuff!

As for John and Suzy’s daughter’s, it’s clear that they’ve also inherited the family talent. Jemma, 24, is a doctor, while 21-year-old daughter Jasmine is finishing her degree in Criminology at Liverpool University.

John Barnes Children: Marriage Number Two

When the star’s marriage to Suzy broke down, John soon found solace with biologist Andrea, who became the footballer’s wife in 2006. The couple now have three children together.

Alex Higgins Daughter: What do we know about the snooker star’s daughter Lauren?

They have two daughters, Isabelle, and Tia, who are thought to be around 15 and 13 years old. The couple also have a son called Alexander, who is nine, and is John’s youngest child.

But the star came under fire when he missed the birth of seventh child Alexander after deciding to carry on watching a big match between Liverpool and Chelsea, leaving his wife Andrea to tackle the labour without him. We’re not impressed John!

The football pundit was booked to cover the match on Skysports, and decided that a small thing like his wife’s labour wasn’t going to put him off his commentary.

Giving him the opportunity to join his wife and new baby in hospital, presenter Richard Keyes said: ‘John Barnes has become a dad again. Baby Alexander weighed in at 7lb and 2oz,’ adding: ‘Do you want to go?’

But John remained resolute in his reply saying: ‘I’ll stay for the second half.’

Despite his shoddy behaviour for the birth of Alexander, it seems that the star is doing his duty as a grandad.

The football legend shared a snap on his Twitter page back in 2015 of him cuddling his first grandchild, and it was clear that the star couldn’t be happier.

Harry Kane Net Worth: How much does the footballer earn?

The footballer proudly tweeted:

“Me and my 1st grandchild are looking forward to the @thebabyshow @Olympia later this month!”.

Speaking to the Express in 2016, the star opened up about fatherhood.

John said:

“People sometimes look surprised when I tell them I have seven children, but the truth is I have always really loved being a dad.

“I was only 21 when my first son Jamie, who is now 30 and a medical consultant, came along. However, being a father at a relatively young age didn’t faze me at all”.

Football Stardom

The footballer was born in Jamaica to Roderick Kenrick “Ken” Barnes and Frances Jeanne Hill. The star’s father worked in the Jamaica Defence Force,  and also happened to be a semi-professional football player!

Unsurprisingly, John spent most of his childhood following in his father’s footsteps with his passion for football. The family eventually moved to London, where the footballer’s career really took off.

Jordan North Partners: Who has the Radio 1 star been dating?

John Barnes was quickly scouted by Watford Football Club, and then went on to play for the team for six years.

The star then signed to Liverpool in 1987 after 233 league appearances and scoring 65 goals for his former team.

Here the footballer enjoyed enormous success. In his first season, Liverpool won the league title, and they went on to win two FA Cups during the star’s ten-year stint at the club.
