Jo O’Meara from S Club 7 is arguably one of the most memorable members of the late 90s pop group.
Recognisable with her shaggy blonde bob and incredible vocals, she gained fans all over the world with hits like ‘Never Had a Dream Come True’ and ‘Don’t Stop Movin”.
After becoming a global popstar, she hasn’t faded into obscurity, though.

The group disbanded in 2003, but almost 20 years later Jo from S Club 7 is still making music.
This year, the singer announced her second solo album, With Love, which will be released on the 27th of August. Her first solo album was released shortly after the pop group disbanded in 2005.

After the release of her latest single ‘On the Surface’, pre-orders of the former S Club 7 star’s album brought it to the number 1 spot on the iTunes chart.
The song perfectly displays O’Meara’s sharp vocals, with the lyrics addressing coming back strong from difficult times. The star battled with a spinal injury in 2002, and also admitted that she has had problems with gambling in the past.
However, she hasn’t completely abandoned her S Club 7 roots just yet. The singer has revealed that she’s recording an acoustic album of the group’s top hits.
She announced the news on Twitter, saying:
“I’m doing this for you, and I’m doing it because you’ve asked me to.
And just to say a massive thank you, for all the support that you’ve given me on all the new solo stuff.”
In between her work as a pop star, the S Club 7 star has also found the time to start a family. She gave birth to a son, Lenny, in 2008.
How did Jo O’Meara’s Career Begin?

O’Meara was born in Romford, London, and even at a young age was excelling at school in music and dance.
S Club 7 formed in 1998, with Jo O’Meara joined by fellow members Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett.
The group ended up scoring four UK number ones, as well as charting in the US. This is hardly surprising given that their manager Simon Fuller had previously managed chart-topping superstars the Spice Girls.
Jo from S Club 7 later disclosed that the group disbanding had hit her hard, saying it was “a shock to the system.”
Big Brother Controversy
In 2007, O’Meara starred in the fifth season of Celebrity Big Brother, but her appearance was laced with controversy.
She entered the house with fellow celebs Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd, and Shilpa Shetty. However, the S Club 7 singer was accused of racism against the Bollywood star, alongside Goody and Lloyd.
Tensions came to a peak on January 16th, when Goody and Shetty got into a heated altercation in the house. Lloyd and O’Meara can be seen laughing through their argument, and later sided with Goody.

Saskia Big Brother: The Drama Behind The Reality Star
In the aftermath of the fight, the media targeted Goody, Lloyd, and O’Meara for their attitude and comments, and the show received over 40,000 official complaints. The S Club 7 star was eventually evicted, while Shilpa Shetty went on to win the series.
O’Meara has since apologised, denying that she is racist and saying that the show’s producers may have made the situation worse
Will There Be An S Club 7 Reunion?
The iconic pop group reformed briefly in 2015 for a BBC Children in Need telethon and even went off on their first tour for 12 years. However, there doesn’t appear to be another reunion on the horizon for the superstars.
But don’t get too disheartened – Jo from S Club 7 has recently said she would be happy to do another reunion.

Speaking on FUBAR Radio, the singer said:
“I think I’d be up for it. Yeah. When the time, if the timing’s right. But you never know, could be reaching again one day.
There’s nothing set in stone. There’s been no meetings or anything like that…You just, you never know what’s around the corner. But who knows, that’s all I’m saying.”
