James Midgely: What Is the Soap Star up to These Days?

There are plenty of us that will recognise James Midgely on our TV screens. He’s starred in everything from Coronation Street to Emmerdale, and has even featured in small long-standing favourites such as Heartbeat and Casualty.
But what is the actor up to these days, and who is he married to?

James Midgely: Acting Career
The soap star was born in 1975 in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
James trained at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester from 1995-1998, and soon began making his mark on the small screen.
The actor’s big break came when he landed a role in Cold Feet in 1998, where he appeared as a character called Brian.
James then began to star in Coronation Street in various roles from 2000 onwards.
He appeared as PC Harper who arrested a very drunk Curly Watts, as well as two other police officers who were investigating a robbery of 5 Grasmere Drive and the murder of Liam Connor. The actor then returned to the street as businessman Richie O’Driscoll in December 2015 for three months.

Josie Gibson: Life after reality TV
James Midgely also played Ed Willis in Emmerdale from February and September 2001.
His other TV credits include Where the Heart Is, North Square, Donovan, Cutting It, Northern Lights, Heartbeat, The Bill, and Casualty.
Not only is James an actor, but he also happens to be a director and editor.
James Midgely can often be seen behind the camera working for various UK production houses and editing shows for the BBC, C4 and Sky. The star is also the founder of SocialBox Agency, a social video advertising agency based in London. That’s a man of many talents!
He’s also recently started his own liquid collagen company called Kollo Health.
Married Life
James is married to TV presenter Jenni Falconer, and they’ve been together for a fair few years now.
The soap star proposed while the couple were away in New York- at a Billy Joel tribute night on a boat on the Hudson river.
The pair then got married at the gorgeous Babington House, Somerset back in June 2010 in an intimate ceremony.
Just over a year later, the happy couple welcomed daughter Ella into the world, who is now 10 years old.
James Midgely’s wife Jenni recently opened to The Mirror about how she first met her actor hubby- and it seems like their first date almost didn’t happen!

Susanna Reid Husband: Who is her ex?
The presenter revealed:
“I first met James when I was working on GMTV and he was in a TV drama called Cutting It. He had bleached blonde hair, tanned up orange skin, and was a playing a very camp hairdresser. He certainly wasn’t gay out of character so we had a little flirt. But we were both in other relationships, so that was that.
Until I met up with him months later back stage at the National TV Awards. This time he’d had his hair dyed black for another role, and when he came over to say hi, I thought I’m sure I’ve met him before.
We really hit it off all evening, and when I flew to Spain the next morning for an ITV travel show I was working on, I announced: “I think I’ve just met the man I’m going to marry.”
On our first date we’d arranged to meet in London, and I was waiting for an hour in Boheme Kitchen and Bar and he was sitting next door in Cafe Boheme!”.
Family Time
And it seems that the couple are the very picture of happiness.
James regularly shares snaps of Jenni and daughter Ella on his Instagram page, giving followers a glimpse into their family life.

Jenny Ryan The Chase: Getting to know the quizzing vixen
James, Jenni and Ella can be seen enjoying holidays, events, and often hang out with their beautiful dog Alfie. The family have even been getting stuck into making TikToks together!
The loved-up couple renovated their house back in 2018, and they’re certainly not shy of showing off their luxury home.
The pair have lived in their swanky house in Wandsworth for 10 years, but stars finally decided to give their family home a facelift.
The spacious house was completely transformed from a messy building site into a state-of-the-art living space with a striking bespoke kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows leading to the garden and a super cosy living room.

The couple have also shared pictures of their luxury bathroom, which is complete with a swanky pistachio green free-standing bath and wood panelling. And it seems Ella and dog Alfie have been enjoying testing it out!
The rest of the luxury pad echoes the bathroom’s fairly muted colour theme, with plenty of wooden doors, ornate mirrors, and grey furnishings.
The couple have been busy documenting their home transformation progress on their Instagram pages over the years, and it seems that the TV stars are finally happy with the final touches of their family home.
James Midgely is also a father of two sons: Sidney, 11, and Kit, 9, with his ex-wife Sophie Siegle who he married in 2007.
