Strictly Winners: Can You Remember Them All?

Strictly winners: from celebrities to professional dancers, many contestants have danced their way to victory. Do you still remember all of them? Just like the Shameless UK cast, some of these winners are now iconic and they will always be remembered.

Today, we look back at all 16 celebrities and professional dancers who have won the super popular BBC1 show since Season 1, in 2004.

Series 18 (2020): Waiting For The New Strictly Winners

The first episode of Strictly latest season was aired despite Kevin Clifton and AJ Pritchard announcing that they were leaving the show. Although we still don’t know who is going to be the winner, we can surely say that this year the show has been an emotional roller coaster, with several celebrities and dancers forced to withdraw from the competition after testing positive for COVID-19.

Series 17 (2019): Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse

In September 2019, the producers of the show announced that Jamie Laing had withdrawn from Strictly due to a foot injury. Kevin Fletcher joined the shoe to replace her, and finally became the winner.

Series 16 (2018): Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton

This was one of the most entertainer seasons, with 18 professional dancers joining the competition. Stacey Dooley and the professional dancer Kevin Clifton won the show.

Series 15 (2017): Joe McFadden and Katya Jones

In 2017, Joe McFadden claimed victory over Debbie McGee, Alexandra Burke and Gemma Atkinson in the show’s live final. For the first time in the history of the show there was no elimination in the final episode, leaving spaces for three runner-up couples.

Series 14 (2016): Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton

Ode and Joanne scored a near perfect 39, 40 and 40 for their last three routines, becoming the new winners of the show with full merit.

Series 13 (2015): Jay McGuinnes and Aliona Vilani

Jay’s last routine is definitely one of the most popular ever aired by the show, watched by millions of users on YouTube, who followed the adventure of these two iconic Strictly winners.

Series 12 (2014): Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev

Claudia Winkleman joined the show as co-presenter, with Tess Daly taking over Sir Bruce Forsyth’s role as main presenter.

The TV presenter Caroline Flack won with a wonderful Charleston alongside professional dancer Pasha Kovalev in the live final. The couple also scored three perfect 40s for all their routines.

Series 11 (2013): Abbey Clancy and Aljaž Škorjanec

In the final episode of the show, Abbey and her fellow professional dancer beat Natalie Gumede and Susanna Reid. Thanks to their wonderful performance, they took home the Glitterball trophy and became the new Strictly winners.

Series 10 (2012): Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace

Olympic star Louis Smith and the Italian British professional dancer Flavia Cacace became the new Strictly winner with their amazing Showdance. In the last episode, they beat all the other couples, taking the prize home.

Series 9 (2011): Harry Judd and Aliona Vilani

Harry Judd and his partner Aliona Vilani became the Strictly winners in 2011 after winning out over Chelsee Healey and Jason Donovan. They also won the most votes from the public.

Series 8 (2010): Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev

Kara and her partner Artem no only won the show, but they found love. The pair dated for four years after the show, but they announced their split in 2014. Anyway, their last performance in the show is still one of the most watched on YouTube.

Series 7 (2009): Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan

BBC Breakfast presenter Chris Hollins and the dancer Ola Jordan won the show in one of the most controversial years for its producers. When Arlene Phillips was replaced and all her male colleagues managed to save their role, many viewers accused BBC of sexism.

Series 6 (2008): Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup

John Sergeant, one of the show participants, announced he was leaving it because he believed he may win it. The real Strictly winner in 2008 were Holby City actor Tom Chambers and his partner Camilla Dallerup. Although the couple scored the lowest of the three finalists with the judges, they won thanks to their popularity with viewers.

Series 5 (2007): Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler

The former singer of girlband Mis-Teeq Alesha Dixon jumped from one talent to another and gained a lot of success. After her adventure on Britain’s Got Talent, she went on the fifth series of Strictly only to won it with her fellow dance partner Matthew Cutler.

Two years later, she replaced Arlene Phillips as one of the judges of the show.

Series 4 (2006): Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy

The fourth series of the show introduced four new professional dancers (Flavia Cacace, James Jordan, Ola Jordan, and Vincent Simone) and saw Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy as the new Strictly winners.

Series 3 (2005): Darren Gough and Lilla Kopylova

England professional cricketer Darren Gough and his partner won despite the fact they’d never made it to the top during the 12 weeks of the show. Their last performance was good enough to make the judges give them the title of Strictly winners.

Series 2 (2004): Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennet

The second series of the show commenced in Autumn 2004 and saw Jill and Darren as its new winner. In the same year, a new spin-off show called Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two was created.

Series 1 (2003): Natasha Kaplinsky and Brendan Cole

The first ever Strictly winners got their prize in the summer of 2004. It was an interesting show, as there were rumours about the pair having a romantic relationship.
