Jamie Borthwick thinks Jay Brown could find love with Honey Mitchell

The EastEnders actor has opened up on his character’s ongoing storyline after his on-screen girlfriend Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) revealed she slept with Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) before lockdown, while Jay has grown close to Honey (Emma Barton) and supported her in the aftermath of her attempted date rape incident.
Now, Jamie said:
‘It started as Jay thinking, “Honey has been so great to me over the years so it’s only right that I stand by her and do the right thing for her”.
‘They spent lockdown together so their bond has grown in that time and I don’t think that Jay was going to have it any other way than to be there for Honey.
‘The way that Jay steps up for her, I’m definitely rooting for him. Their bond is made clear when they’re at the hospital, they really understand and look out for each other.
‘Honey’s now looking out for Jay with this Lola/Peter stuff too. It’s interesting to see where it will go – Billy’s been off with Karen, Jay’s now dealing with Lola’s revelation so they really lean on each other for support’.

Meanwhile, Jamie admitted Jay and Lola’s relationship was already getting stale before lockdown, and that could have played into her decision to be honest about her cheating.
He added:
‘I think Lola knows it too and that’s why she tells Jay that she cheated in the first place.
‘If everything was going well with them, she wouldn’t have told Jay. It happened a while ago and they could have carried on happily but it was eating away at her.
‘They’re feeling the distance from both sides because Jay has also been busy supporting Honey too’.
