Kym has admitted it was “such a hard time” for both her and her former Coronation Street co-star (Carla Connor) as Alison experienced the joy of welcoming her daughter Daisy, 11, into the world hours apart from Kym losing her son Archie, who was stillborn in 2009.
She said:
‘My friend Alison King, a really good friend of mine who plays Carla Connor in Coronation Street, she gave birth to her daughter on the very same day that I lost my son – literally hours apart.
‘And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact that she’d delivered her baby so safely and I’d lost my son, was such a hard time for both of us’.
But Kym – who previously played Michelle Connor on the ITV soap – admitted the contrasting experiences meant the pair ended up bonding “even more”.
She said:
‘And actually, we bonded through that even more and, now we share the birthday pictures. I’ll light a candle for Archie, and I’ll send her a picture, and she’ll send me a picture of Daisy’.

Kym admitted some of her pals didn’t want to go to Archie’s funeral because they “couldn’t cope”, and she initially didn’t want to discuss her loss because she thought it wouldn’t be real if she pretended the tragedy hadn’t happened.
Speaking on Morning Live, she added:
‘I personally didn’t want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real.
‘I had almost got to the point where I wasn’t accepting anything yet, but equally, I found that people didn’t know what to say to me or how to talk to me, so, therefore, avoided that completely.
‘Some people didn’t want to come to his funeral because they felt … they just couldn’t cope with such a small baby’s funeral.
‘They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them’.
