Alex Beresford has pulled out of hosting Good Morning Britain this week after feeling “unwell”

The 40-year-old star had been due to stand in for Ben Shephard on Thursday (29.10.20) and Friday (30.10.20), but he took to social media to explain that he didn’t want to risk working on the show with a cold in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Alex wrote on Twitter:
‘BREAKING: Due to having a cold and feeling unwell I won’t be hosting @gmb tomorrow or Friday.
‘In normal circumstances I’d power through, however with things getting worse we don’t need any more germs flying around the studio. (sic)’.
Alex – who usually presents the weather as a stand-in for Laura Tobin – also apologised to Ben for cutting short his half-term holiday.
He wrote on the micro-blogging site:
‘Sorry to cut short your half term break @benshephard’.
Alex had earlier told his followers that he would be presenting the ITV show alongside Charlotte Hawkins for the remainder of the week.
He tweeted:
‘Back hosting @gmb for the rest of this week with @CharlotteHawkins although I’ve lucked out and will be strolling on set at 6:30am.
‘This is classed as a lie in in breakfast TV. Headlines at 6am with Charlotte x. (sic)’.

Charlotte sent a message wishing the star a speedy recovery.
The 45-year-old presenter wrote on Twitter:
‘Sorry @alexberesfordTV & hope you’re feeling better soon. (sic)’.
Alex was recently left embarrassed by fellow presenter Kate Garraway after she cheekily asked him to present the weather topless, after he shared a shirtless selfie on Instagram to mark his 40th birthday.
Kate said:
‘The producer just said in my ear, just so you know it’s not me objectifying Alex Beresford… the producer said we need you guys at home to decide if he should do the final weather of the show topless.
‘You can see we’re keen to make the nation smile, can’t you?’.
