Strictly Come Dancing 2020 is not going to look the same – but at least we have Saturday night plans! Who are this year’s Strictly Come Dancing contestants?

Maisie Smith

Maisie is best known for playing Tiffany Butcher in Eastenders. The actress said:

‘Get me in those sequins, I can’t wait to dive into the Strictly fancy dress box this winter! This is a dream come true’.

Jamie Laing

You may remember Jamie from last year – or not! He had to pull out after the introduction show due to an injury. The Made In Chelsea star said:

‘Here we go again, hopefully this time I can last long enough so my mum can see me dance.

‘The reason I’m doing it, is to make my mum proud but all I did last year was make her even more disappointed. Let’s change that this year, can’t wait!’

Clara Amfo

Clara Amfo is another of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing contestants. Speaking about the show, she said:

‘As we know this year has been a real challenge, and escapism through dancing is something I know we all enjoy, so to be taught by a pro and live a fantasy is something that I can’t wait to fully embrace’.

Nicola Adams

Nicola is an undefeated boxer and an Olympic gold medallist After Dancing On Ice featured their first same-sex coupling earlier this year, Strictly have now done so with Nicola. She said:

‘I’m super excited to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing this year’

‘Thank the BBC for giving me the opportunity to be the first female lead on the show. Yeah buddy, representing. I want you guys to know I’ll be giving it my all – much like I do in the boxing ring, I’ll be doing on the dance floor’.

Jason Bell

The token American contestant is best known for being an NFL player. He said:

‘I am thrilled. I’m a huge fan of the show, I’ve been watching it since I came to this country, so it’s time for me to do something cool to impress my daughter, now that she can watch me perform!

‘I’ve always, as an athlete, liked to lock into the present moment you know, be in the zone, and I think this show will give me the opportunity to do the same thing I did when I was playing – perform at a high level and learn from the best’.

Jason has a daughter with former Girls Aloud singer, Nadine Coyle.

HRVY

No, that’s not his actual name. HRVY – actually called Harvey Leigh Cantwell – is a YouTuber and singer. Speaking about the opportunity, he said:

‘Being on Strictly is going to be such an amazing experience, and I’m so thankful to be taking part this year.

‘I think my mum is more excited that she’ll be able to see me every Saturday night now’.

Ranvir Singh presents Good Morning Britain and ITV News. She has since revealed that she will STILL be presenting the morning shows and is concerned about the sleep deprivation! We would be too.

The former Home Secretary was announced as the final Strictly contestant for this year’s line up. It was recently revealed that the former shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott turned down Strictly’s offer and she said that Jacqui was ‘very brave’.
