Was Jess In Gilmore Girls Who Rory Should Have Married?
Jess in Gilmore Girls was the ultimate bad boy turned good as he blossomed from a troubled teen to a published author and we begged Rory to take him back.
Miss Gilmore’s three fine fellas were all flawed yet perfect in their own way and everyone has their own opinion on who Rory should have ran off into the sunset with. But we’re backing Jess Mariano and after his mum, Liz Danes, shipped him off and Luke kicked him out, someone needs to be god dammit!
Rory revealed that she was pregnant in Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, but the biggest thing to take away from it was that Jess actually was actually the most together and sane person there!
So to all the Dean and Logan fans out there, here’s why Rory should have ended up with Jess!
Dean Wasn’t Suited To Her
When Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) first came on to the scene, we all swooned for his flopped crest and tall stature. He was adorable but we’re sad to say that he had his faults and Rory just wasn’t the one for him.
Firstly, he broke up with her when she didn’t say ‘I love you’ back. Everyone falls in love at different rates and breaking up with someone for not being in exactly the same place as you is unacceptable.
Secondly, he became way too clingy. Okay, they were Stars Hollow high school sweethearts so they’re not going to have mastered boundaries and emotions – god knows we still haven’t – but Rory needs her independence and feeling suffocated was a no-go.
Lastly, he cheated on his fiancé to be with her. He was cheating with her, not on her but the proverb still stand; cheaters never prosper.

He Worked Hard To Win Her Affections
From the first time Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) lay eyes on and showed an interest in Rory we could see the chemistry between them. Remember his disappointment when it turned out that she had a boyfriend? But he knew that they were meant to be together and always turned up.
He wrote the notes in the margins of the book he ‘borrowed’, bid on her basket so they could have lunch and hopped in her sleigh at the sleigh ride.
Jess even thought about their future.
Jess : So, it’s been a couple days since you made the big decision. You’re still going to Yale?
Rory Gilmore : Yes, I am. It’s got all the classes I want and some really great teachers, and plus, you know, as an added bonus, it’s really close to here.
Jess : 22.8 miles.
Rory Gilmore : How’d you know that?
Jess : Do you Yahoo?
Rory Gilmore : You looked it up?
Jess : Yeah.
Rory Gilmore : You looked it up.

They Have The Most Things In Common
The basis of falling in love is having shared experiences so having things in common is a pretty big necessity. Naturally, you can’t agree on everything or the relationship would be totally boring. But as is having nothing to talk about…
Rory and Jess were both total bookworms but enjoyed the same music, films and had similar dreams of being authors.
Rory And Logan Were NOT Meant To Be
They both lived in two different worlds. Whilst she enjoyed the thrill of the Life and Death Brigade just like him, she wasn’t going to jump off a cliff in Costa Rica. She still had some sense.
Whilst Dean was too small town, Logan was too big city (and Jess rested nicely in the middle.) Logan was used to wealth, not working hard to earn success and being reckless as he knew his riches could always pick up the pieces. Everything that Rory was not.
Opposites do attract but these two were chalk and cheese.
Jess Wanted Her To Be The Best Version Of Herself
When it came to the future, Rory had the whole world at her feet. But her boyfriends had differing opinions on her university dreams.
Dean: “I could care less about Harvard.”
Logan: *watches Rory drop out of Yale because of his father*
Jess: “WHY did you drop out of Yale? This isn’t you, Rory. You know it isn’t.”
When Rory drops out of Yale, it is the least Rory thing to do EVER. She is defeated and lost and even Lorelai Gilmore can’t get her back on track. But when blast from the past Jess comes a-knocking, he reminds her of her true self. And if that isn’t true love then what is?
