The 28-year-old star was at home amid coronavirus restrictions while Cara De La Hoyde spent four days in hospital trying to be induced, and her initial call to Nathan to tell him she’d been taken to the delivery suite went to his voicemail.
Nathan – who also has two-year-old son Freddie-George with Cara – admitted to new! magazine:
‘I nodded off. If I had missed it I don’t think I would be sitting here now. I just saw the look in her eyes as I walked through the doors and she was like, “You’re late”‘.
Cara explained that Nathan only just managed to arrive in time for the birth.
The former Love Island star – who gave birth to her daughter Delilah on July 28 – said:
‘They broke my waters at 4.30am and by 5.30am she was here. I had two pushing contractions and she came out – no-one expected her to come out that quick’.

Nathan announced the arrival of his daughter via Instagram after Cara was initially admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia, which causes high blood pressure during pregnancy.
Speaking in a video message, he said:
‘Hi guys, just to let everyone know that Cara delivered our beautiful baby daughter this morning. She’s done an absolutely fantastic job.
‘I just want to say Cara – you are a hero. I’m really, really emotional this morning. Everything is good, Cara’s doing great, baby is doing great.
‘Just want to say one thing: us blokes could never in a million years go through what women do, so everyone woman that gives birth – hats off to you because I don’t think us geezers have got the pain threshold.
‘Massive congratulations to Cara, you’ve done a fantastic job. Welcome to the world my little daughter’.
