Disney Has Remade The Classic ’90s Animation Of Mulan

The 1998 animated Disney movie of Mulan tells the story of Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior who struggles to embrace her true potential and accept her only role as becoming a concubine. When China falls under attack by Northern invaders, the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial army to defend the country.

When her ailing father is summoned for duty, Mulan decides to take his place in the army, masquerading as a man and his ‘son’ Ping. There, she ends up meeting her love interest, Li Shang, the head of the Chinese army and son of the General.

Proving herself to be a strong warrior by saving the country from northern invaders, Mulan became the strong, independent Disney princess that truly is a role model to all young women.

Set in China, Mulan is based on the Chinese folklore ‘The Ballad of Mulan’.

The UK Cinema Association Have Said That The Strategy Is ‘Hugely Disappointing’

The UK Cinema Association has called the streaming strategy ‘hugely disappointing’. It will not only be a devastating blow to cinemas but also to the parents who just can’t afford it.

For most people, £23 is an unreasonable price tag for a film that you can’t even own. Yes, that’s right! You will only be able to watch Mulan after purchase for as long as you continue your Disney+ subscription; which makes it all the more extortionate!

In the words of Mushu, dishonour! Dishonour on you! Dishonour on your cow!

The Movie Will Hopefully Become Available To All Disney+ subscribers (September 4 2020 Release Date)

We are hoping that eventually Mulan will become available to all Disney+ subscribers, but until then, you will be able to enjoy Mulan (2020) on Disney+ from 4th September onwards.

The Kardashians are also excited for the release of Mulan, with Kendall Jenner saying:

‘My sisters and I love Disney movies. We used to watch them all the time when Kylie and I were little. I never really thought about which princess I’m most like. A friend recently told me that she’s such a Mulan, lol. It got me thinking about which characters my sisters would be from the movies (and my own personal princess, of course)’

With Kendall Jenner’s height, she may be a bit taller than most of the classic Disney Princesses!

Disney+ has been a huge success and both Frozen films are available to stream on there (sorry Jack Whitehall, you’re still not in them! With Jack Whitehall married to the idea of making his Disney debut, he may have to keep dreaming…)
