Andy Samberg – Jake Peralta
Andy plays the lead role in the show who follows Judaism, often mentioning Hanukkah and Bar Mitzvahs. In real life, Andy was also brought up in a Jewish household but describes himself as:
‘Not particularly religious’.

Andre Braugher – Raymond Holt
Raymond is the 99th Precinct’s Commanding Officer. The show openly shows his struggles as a black, homosexual police officer and how he is trying to change this for the better.

Andre is married to fellow actress Abi Brabson and together they have three sons: Michael, Isaiah and John Wesley. The family follow Unitarian Universalism.
Melissa Fumero – Amy Santiago
Melissa plays Amy in the Golden Globes winning TV show. The actress, who was born to Cuban parents, plays Amy who is Cuban-American. Amy has been involved in multiple major storylines created by the shows creators Dan Goor and Michael Schur including infertility and sexual assault.
In real life, Melissa often honours her heritage and questions why more persons of colour aren’t being hired, especially in Brooklyn 99’s French Canadian adaptation, Escouade 99.

Terry Crews – Terry Jeffords
Both Terry on the show and Terry in real life have had to overcome hardships in life. In his personal life, Terry Crews – a devout Christian – has had to overcome a pornography addiction and a sexual assault. TIME Magazine named him as one of their ‘Silence Breakers’ in regards to the Time’s Up and Me Too movements.
Terry in the show has had to overcome being racially profiled by another police officer – an episode which has been highly praised for its accuracy to real life experiences.

Stephanie Beatriz – Rosa Diaz
Rosa Diaz is one of the most interesting characters in TV history and the same goes for Stephanie Beatriz in the Brooklyn 99 cast. Both Stephanie and Rosa identify as bisexual with Stephanie (who is Argentinian) realising she was attracted to both men and women around age 12.
Rosa’s coming out story has been hailed as one of the best to ever be shown on TV and this reveals why:

Joe Lo Truligo – Charles Boyle
Is there anybody who doesn’t love Charles? He’s the loyal and hilarious best friend we all need.
Joe Lo Truglio was born in Queens before moving to Florida. He is currently married to actress Beth Dover – who is also part of the Brooklyn 99 cast after starring in an episode of the show. Together they have a son, Eli.

Chelsea Peretti – Gina Linetti
She may be gone but Gina can never be forgotten from Brooklyn 99.
Little is known about Gina and her personal life but we do know some stuff about Chelsea. Chelsea was born to a mother of English and Italian descent and a Jewish father.
Nowadays she is married to filmmaker Jordan Peele and together they have a son.

Scully has numerous hidden talents on the show and is often portrayed as being ‘stupid’ as well as his best friend Hitchcock.
In real life, Joel is married to Tammy and they live in Los Angeles.
