The reality TV star will not take part in another series of the programme – which first aired on ITV in 2009 before moving to Sky Living in 2011 and Quest Red six years later – because she wants a break from “intense reality”.

A rep for Katie – who has a new BBC One documentary lined up for later this year, which will look at life with her disabled son Harvey – told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column:

‘She wanted a break from intense reality for personal reasons after coming out of the Priory.

‘She made a choice to step away and focus on new projects with her new dynamic team around her. Katie’s YouTube channel is her soul creative and is currently filming her BBC documentary about Harvey’.

A spokesman for the channel added:

‘We thank Katie for a great creative partnership over the last few years’.

The star recently revealed she had to call an ambulance over fears her 18-year-old son Harvey – who was born with partial blindness, Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and learning and behavioural difficulties – had suffered a heart attack when he was stricken with chest pains last week.

She said:

‘Harvey had chest pains during the day so I panicked that he might have coronavirus. I was also terrified he might be having a heart attack because he’s high risk due to his obesity.

‘Harvey said he felt like he had needles in his chest, so I called an ambulance and had a friend come and look after the other kids. With Harvey and all his health conditions, you simply can’t mess about’.

Thankfully, medical staff were unable to find anything serious wrong with Harvey and he was able to return home after a check-up.
