Ultrasound
And then of course, the standard gender reveal- an ultrasound. While many women choose to keep the sex of their baby a surprise until it arrives, many also opt to find out what they’re having.

Unlike the other procedures, an ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure that can determine the sex of the fetus.

It’s only effective from week 18 onwards, after the external genitalia of the baby is clearly formed.
However, although it’s the safest way to know the sex, it isn’t always 100% effective. Sometimes, the nurse is unable to give a definite answer, if the position of the fetus isn’t ideal.
