Daisy Edgar-Jones first began acting in school plays at the age of 5. The daughter of Phillip Edgar-Jones – who works as the director of Sky arts – and Northern Irish mother Wendy – who has worked as a TV drama editor – Daisy was destined for a life in the creative arts.

Whilst studying her A Levels at Woodhouse College, a state sixth form college in North London, she got her first big break after being cast as Olivia Marsden in ITV’s Cold Feet.
That same year, she appeared in the Christmas Special episode of Outnumbered and went on to appear in Silent Witness and BBC historical drama Gentleman Jack.

Daisy Edgar Jones Has Become A Sensation After Bringing Sally Rooney’s Troubled Marianne Sheridan To Life
Sally Rooney‘s best selling novel Normal People was adapted for screen earlier this year by Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie Macdonald, with the original author joining the screenwriting team.
The complicated love story in Normal People – that stars Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal – has been critically acclaimed for how raw and true to life it is, along with the sizzling chemistry (there are a lot of sex scenes) between the leading actors.

‘I have imposter syndrome, I pinch myself that I got it’
The star, who is dating Game of Thrones actor Tom Varey, told the Daily Telegraph that she still finds it hard to believe that she managed to land such an iconic role:
‘I have imposter syndrome, I pinch myself that I got it.
‘My friend had auditioned for Marianne as well and my boyfriend helped her tape [a screen test] for it. I thought, that sounds really good. Then when I read the book, I obviously fell ridiculously in love with it. I was reading it thinking I was Marianne, which was even more intense.’

‘You can never satisfy everyone, but I love the book just as much as the next person. I want to do it justice.’
The BBC series Normal People is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer, consisting of twelve 30-minute-long episodes that you can’t help but just binge.
