20. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The first Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was released in 1974 and it too was based on the crimes of Ed Gein.
The film…

Gein’s mother was deeply religious and often preached to Ed and his brother about the ”evils” of the world which to her included drinking. She also believed that all women (aside from herself) were working for the devil!
Ed Gein’s bedroom…
When his mother died at the age of 67, Ed boarded up every room in the house that was once used by her.

Gein lived out the rest of his life in a small room beside the kitchen while the rest of the house quickly descended into squalor.
Ed Gein…
On 21 November, 1957, Ed Gein was put on trial for first degree murder however he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. He lived out the rest of his life in a mental health institute.
