Gemma Atkinson baby with her professional dancer partner, Gorka Marquez, is set to turn one in July. Let’s look back on their story…
The 35-year-old actress shot to fame as Lisa Hunter in the channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, before going on to play Carly in Emmerdale.

From TV To Radio
She said of her first big acting role:
I’ll always be grateful to Hollyoaks. It’s because of that show I managed to do everything else and I made some wonderful friends.”
Although she’s very much kept the acting door open, she admits that she’s more than happy in her current role as a radio presenter for Hits Radio, alongside co-host Dave Vitty.

The Strictly Curse (Blessing)…
Gemma met her partner, Gorka Marquez, back in 2017 when she took part in Strictly Come Dancing.
Strictly Come Dancing Professional dancer Gorka was paired with singer Alexandra Burke, while Gemma danced with Aljaž Škorjanec.
Rumours flew that the pair had hit it off backstage, but it was only on Valentine’s Day the next year when they went public with their romance.

Just a year and a half later, they welcomed their first child, Mia, on 4th July 2019.
Actress Gemma Atkinson recounted her traumatic birth story with her social media followers:
“This picture was taken when Mia was 30hrs old. The weary smile on my face doesn’t quite portray how happy I was inside as 30hrs earlier, things could have gone very differently.”

Fur Baby Practice
As the President for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, Gemma is a massive dog lover and of course has some fur babies of her own.
“Gorks took this picture a few hours after my waters had broke. They didn’t leave my side, they were totally aware little sister was on her way.”

Gemma Atkinson Baby Made Quite The Entrance
The Emmerdale star shared more insight in to the birth of her baby daughter Mia:
“Mia was a tiny baby, 4lb 10. The decision was made to induce me to help her along but she disliked that even more.”
Gemma’s labour didn’t go quite to plan:
“With every contraction her heart rate dropped. On the 3rd one midwife Katie who was taking care of me at the time pressed the panic alarm & within 15 mins I was rushed out, prepped & delivered Mia via an emergency C section.”
Traumatic Birth Story
Gemma thanks her hypnobirthing classes for being able to remain calm:
“It wasn’t what I’d planned but thanks to my hypnobirthing despite the madness & panic, I was able to calmly keep my breathing technique & accept whatever is best for Mia just do it!”
Gemma Opened Up
Gemma shared the scary events of the labour:
“Gorka got a doctor and she took one look at me & again pressed the panic button. I don’t remember much other than having around 9 doctors in the room, some injecting me, hooking me to drips, physically pulling clots out of me & one comforting Gorks who was beside himself in the corner.”

Gemma Atkinson Baby: A Little Miracle
Luckily, baby Mia arrived on Thursday 4th July 2019, and will be celebrating her first birthday this year. Their beautiful baby daughter arrived healthily in the end, thanks to all the hard work of the nurses and doctors at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Daddy’s Girl
Gemma revealed that little Mia is growing up bilingual thanks to her Spanish Dad who speaks to her often in his first language.
The Mum-of-one joked of how often people compare Mia to her Dad:
“Everyone who comes to see us says, ‘Oh my God she’s beautiful, isn’t she like her dad?’ Everyone keeps saying, ‘She’s stunning’ and then ‘Isn’t she like Gorka?’ And I look at them and go, ‘Yeah, even though I carried her for nine months and all that, and she looks like him!'”

Gemma Atkinson Baby: Will Gemma And Gorka Have More?
When the radio presenter was questioned about having more kids, she admitted:
“Absolutely! But not until Mia can tie her own shoes and wipe her own bum!”
But when it comes to marrying boyfriend Gorka Marquez, Gem didn’t sound as keen:
“Nah … not anytime soon anyway. Genuinely never fancied it. We’re so good as we are.”
