10. Orlando cracked a rib
It’s safe to say that many of the actors scored injuries on this film set. It was, after all, a long filming process.
Orlando was the perfect Legolas
But Orlando’s injury was one of the worst. He was determined to do many of his stunts himself.

This meant riding on horseback with the scale double of Gimli (Brett Beattie) sat behind.

During one particular take during filming, the two fell of their horse. It’s not hard to imagine what happened…

That’s right! Brett – in full Gimli armour – fell right on top of Orlando (Ouch!)
Poor Orlando
Turns out that the landing actually cracked Orlando’s ribs. As anyone will know if they’ve ever cracked a rib – it’s an extremely painful injury. But Orlando was determined to soldier on (after being patched up, of course!)
