Linda who has a penchant for being OTT just like her son, has been described by Rylan as a:

“Cross between the nan from Catherine Tate and Pam from Gavin & Stacey”.

But aside from her dramatic tendencies, Linda’s had her fair share of struggles; in a life-long battle with Crohn’s disease, Rylan recently revealed that his mother has nearly died three times.

What Is Rylan’s Relationship With Linda Like?

Rylan has opened up about his close relationship with his mother and has admitted that although she can be ‘liability’, he couldn’t imagine his life without her.

He said: ‘My mum, Linda, is my biggest f****** headache, but I don’t know what I’d do without her. She’s got the best of both worlds with me — I’m a son and a daughter. ‘I can talk to her about make-up and blow-dry her hair, and I can tell her to f*** off.’

The TV star also admitted that his mum loves a bit of drama:

‘Everything is a drama. Mum’s 67, lives on her own and can’t do Sky, so she calls me every single day about it.’

Has He Always Been Close With His Mum?

‘Growing up, it was just me, Mum and my older brother. I didn’t always like opening up to her about things. Not because she wouldn’t hear it — that was my struggle. She’s not the best at advice, but you can tell her anything.

‘I’ve never spoken to her about my relationships and sexuality, but she wouldn’t have a problem with it. On Gogglebox, she was very happy to talk about someone’s willy while I was dying inside.’

Rylan also admitted that his mum is a great person for keeping him grounded:

‘I’m probably one of the people most unaffected by money and my job. My mum’s the same. Although she’ll say to me, “I want my teeth done,” and I’ll say: “You’re 67, Lin, get over it.”

‘Both of us are pretty non-bothered by any success I’ve had. ‘I’ll be like, “Mum, I’m hosting Supermarket Sweep”,’ and she’ll say, “Oh, that’s good, isn’t it?” And that’s it. I need someone like that. She’d instantly sit on me if my feet left the floor.’

Linda’s Health Battles

On an interview with Loose women, the Celebrity Big Brother presenter revealed that his mother has fought a long-term battle with Crohn’s disease, a condition that causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system. She also contracted sepsis in 2018 – a condition that nearly killed her.
