Gemma Collins and James Argent – How They Met
Gemma Collins was born on January 31st, 1981 in Romford, England.
We first met the TV personality and businesswoman back in 2011 when she appeared in the popular ITV series, The Only Way is Essex.
Since then, Collins has appeared in several other popular TV series such as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Big Brother, and Dancing on Ice.
And also since then, we couldn’t get enough of the TV star, especially on her romance with TOWIE costar, James Argent.

Who is James Argent?
James ‘Arg’ Argent was born on December 5th, 1987.
The reality star was a TOWIE star way before Collins as he was part of the first and original series -which began airing in 2010.
When Collins and Argent first met on the set of TOWIE in 2011, Argent was in another on-and-off again relationship with long term (former) girlfriend Lydia Bright.
Collins and Argent started becoming friendly, but it was only in 2012 when the pair started becoming romantic as Arg’s relationship with Lydia ended.
That was when Gemma Collins and James Argent became one of England’s most favourite couple to watch.

Early 2012 was when Collins and Argent began their relationship. But it didn’t take long for some drama to occur.
Later that year when TOWIE went to Marbella, she found out Arg was making mean comments about her.
To which she sassily replied:
“You’re never going to get this candy”.
Between 2015 and 2016, Collins and Arg took a break from each other.
Arg was back again with ex Lydia, while Gemma was dating Rami, another TOWIE star.
It looks like Arg has some serious commitment issues, and Gemma just can’t stop dating TOWIE stars.
Then in the 2017 TOWIE Christmas special, Arg had an epiphany and declared his love for Gemma.
A smitten Arg told Gemma:
“You treat me with such respect, you’re kind to me and you make me laugh so much.”
After that, the couple shared a civil kiss on the cheek but sadly nothing romantic seemed to transpire.
Then in 2018, the era of Arg and Collins seemed to be over for real as Gemma appeared on Celebs Go Dating and seem to have a thing for final match Laurence Hearn.
It was also roughly around this time that Collins successfully aired her one-time episode Diva Espana that everyone could not get enough of! It was around this time that Argent went back to rehab for his cocaine addiction.

Just went we all thought it was over, and Arg really isn’t getting Collins’s candy, we all received a pleasant surprise!
Thankfully for us (and for Arg), the couple are officially back together as they announce their relationship publicly.
Arg posted a loved up picture of the couple, thanking girlfriend Gemma Collins for supporting him through his stint in rehab.
The picture was captioned:
“I want to say a huge thank you for all of your support. I’m doing well & Feeling good but I couldn’t of done it without this one. It’s not been the easiest of times but through it all she makes us laugh. I know she’ll smash it tonight & here’s to a better future for us both.”
Not only did they publicly announced their relationship, there were talks of an engagement, a marriage, and a baby!

But surprise, surprise… Drama just seems to follow the pair!
After getting back together again after a year, Arg is back on the curb after posting a video of Collins snoring on social media.

He then makes it worse by calling her a bunch of offensive names and fat shaming her by saying she has ‘more rolls than Greggs’, followed by a string of other offensive messages.
Unfortunately for Gemma, she’s used to receiving negative comments about her weight. But coming from someone she loves must be even more painful!
Thankfully some justice was served as Arg received some blunt telling off during an interview with Piers Morgan.
“No offence mate but you’re not exactly in a position to lecture anybody about their weight. Of all the digs to use, why would you use weight?”
Arg, admitting Collin’s recent weight loss replied:
“It is pot calling the kettle black. I struggle with my weight. I’m the biggest I’ve ever been. Gemma has lost weight and she looks the best she’s ever been”.
You might think that Collins have had enough of Arg, but the pair are full of surprises as they got back together a few months after the drama, until another drama!

Fast forward to October 2019 when Collins says she’s had enough until Arg overcomes his drug addiction.
This time the drama involved the police when Gemma had to ring 999 after Arg was radio silent for over 12 hours, fearing a drug overdose.
Arg was rushed to hospital for the second time in a short span of time, and Gemma was devastated.
Arg went back to rehab and the whole time, Gemma was worried sick about her lover.
Fast forward again to our current timeline, Gemma and Arg are back together emotionally and literally as they are quarantined together during the current Coronavirus outbreak.
It has been a trying time for all of us since the COVID-19 lockdown, and we’re happy to receive some positive news on the happy couple at this time of coronavirus pandemic.
