8. Tomika’s Mother (Suzzanne Douglas)
Suzzanne Douglas was the actress who played the role of Tomika’s mother, a shy and introverted student at Horace Green Prep School who later coined the nickname ”Songbird” on account of her outstanding voice. While the other girls were scrapping over which one should be lead singer, Tomika shied away from the opportunity but Dewey gave it to her anyway.
Tomika’s mother was at first against the idea of her daughter performing in a band, but after watching her on stage and seeing how confident she had become she was overcome with pride.
Suzzanne Douglas is a proud mother in real life too! The actress, composer and singer is married to a man named Wynton who she loves talking about on Instagram. Together the couple have one daughter and in 2017, they proudly celebrated her graduation from NYU!
