Gogglebox star Amy Tapper first shot to fame in 2013 when her family signed up to do Channel 4 reality series Gogglebox, which features families and friends watching television in their respective homes and giving their thoughts and commentary on various shows and films.

Poor Amy (Gogglebox) Became A Victim To Online Trolls…

In 2016 when she was just a sixteen year old teen, Amy was unfortunately targeted by cyberbullies, who trolled the star over her appearance and critiqued her weight.

The reality star opened up to ITV’s chat show host Lorraine about her social media trolling ordeal and how she had discovered the abuse from her early teens:

‘When I was younger… I was 13 when I started filming Gogglebox, I cared a lot about what people thought. I used to look up my name on Twitter, but what I found is no-one tagged you. So unless they tagged my name in, I wasn’t going to see it.

‘They [the trolls] used to say horrible things. As I got older, I realised they don’t actually know me. And they don’t know what I do behind closed doors. It annoys me.’

Amy (Gogglebox): ‘Fat is a way to describe someone…But the word ‘fat’ is used as an insult’

The fat-shaming Amy received was vile but the teen, wise beyond her years, chose to rise above it, saying:

‘Even though being big is unhealthy, just as being too thin is unhealthy, it is portrayed as a bad thing.

‘Fat is a way to describe someone, slim is a way to describe someone, pretty is a way to describe someone. But the word ‘fat’ is used as an insult.’

Very true!

Amy: Gogglebox To Starring On Celebs Go Dating In 2018

In 2018, Amy decided to quit Gogglebox to pursue other ventures and landed a spot on the 2018 series of Celebs Go Dating which has previously seen TOWIE reality stars Joey Essex, Megan McKenna and Chloe Sims in the line up.

With no dating experience under belt, Amy decided that she was ready to throw herself in the deep end and get it over with. Although the romance reality show doesn’t have the best rep when it comes to building genuine love connections, we had high hopes for Amy when she met Ace Hearn.

Amy & Ace

Celebs Go Dating apparently like to keep it in the family after Ace’s dad Laurence Hearn appeared on the series the previous year. Ace told Amy:

‘My dad joined the agency last year, so he dated Gemma Collins. They’re very good friends and see each other two or three nights a week.’

The pair even had a cheeky little smooch during the series finale and fans wondered if the Gogglebox star had found love.

She revealed to OK! Magazine that:

‘We really bonded well and have a good connection. I’m doing my thing, and he’s doing his, and we are just seeing how things go I guess. It was amazing to share it with someone who I could have a laugh with and such a good time with.’

Amy’s Amazing Three-Stone Weight Loss

After dad Jonathan was diagnosed with diabetes, the Tapper family decided to go on a health kick. Jonathan’s impressive weight loss results sparked Amy to follow in her father’s footsteps and the pair committed themselves to a new diet and exercise regime.

Amy shocked fans with her incredible weight loss after shedding three stone in only twelve weeks after completing the musclefood’s Do The Unthinkable diet and fitness programme alongside dad Jonathan.

Amy lost six inches around her waist in three months, dropping to a size 20!

After struggling with her weight for years, the star had tried weight loss shakes and even turned to hypnotherapy but unfortunately nothing seemed to stick!

She used to stick to eating just two meals a day, one of which included homemade dinner cooked by mum Nikki.

However, Amy has had to up her eating habits to six times a day. Swapping up her diet to healthy, low-calorie meals and hitting the gym a few times a week, the star has managed to transform both her mind and body. She told The Mirror:

‘When my first Do The Unthinkable order arrived, I initially found it difficult to eat all the food – but I’ve since changed my mindset as I’ve realised I really do need plenty of good food to fuel my body.

‘I’ve just recently returned from Israel where I spent my gap year. During this time, I was enjoying myself, going out for meals and exploring the local cuisine. Coming back home and starting Do The Unthinkable has made me completely rethink the way I look at and feel about food.’

She added that:

‘I’m quite a picky eater so was worried about how I would cope with the food options, but I was pleasantly surprised.

‘I’m a creature of habit so would happily eat the same food every day for months, but I didn’t have to do that as there’s plenty to choose from.’

The Reality Star Says That The Do The Unthinkable Diet Is So Tasy And Easy To Prepare

She says:

‘My favourite is the Mushroom Pesto Pasta, but everything is so tasty and easy to prepare. Most things can be put in the microwave or on the hob and cooked within ten minutes. I’ve never really cooked so this is perfect for me.

‘My days are pretty busy so the snacks, like the Salt and Vinegar Chickpea crisps and Banana Granola Bars, are perfect to grab and eat on the go – I’m still eating these now as they’re just so tasty!’

Amy Says Hitting The Gym Often Cheers Her Up If She Feels Down

‘I’ve never suffered from serious mental health problems, but whenever I do feel a bit down, missing my friends or dreaming of my gap year, I’ve learned that hitting the gym allows my mind concentrate on something else.’

Amy adds that she doesn’t have a specific ‘goal’ in mind but wants to just take on a healthier lifestyle:

‘I’m nowhere near my goal, but to be honest I don’t really know what my goal looks like.

‘It isn’t a number on a set of scales or a dress size. My health is more important than that. I’m taking each week as it comes and losing bit by bit, and it’s making me feel great.’

She opened up about her progress on instagram:

‘Another progress pic for you guys! Up until recently I never would’ve felt comfortable wearing an outfit like this. But after having lost 3 stone I feel so much better!

‘I really can’t believe how far I’ve come and this is only just the beginning… I’ve achieved this with the help of @dotheunthinkableuk and following their amazing plan which gave me everything I needed each week to help me reach my goal.’

She has actively encouraged others to join in on the healthy eating:

‘If any one feels they want to start eating healthier and wants to follow the same plan I did then drop them a follow and if you want to give the plan a go you can use my code TAPPER10 to get £10 off your first order! Let me know if you give it a go! PS, Tune into ITV1 at 9am today to watch me chat about my health journey with Lorraine Kelly! #notadiet #dotheunthinkable #ad.’

What’s next for Amy Tapper? The star said she would never rule out taking part in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here which has seen the likes of Inbetweeners’ star Emily Atack come runner up.
