In 2017, KJ Apa was involved in a car accident after shooting for around 15 hours.
Apparently, KJ fell asleep during his drive back home past midnight. The car struck a light pole, leaving the passenger side completely destroyed. Fortunately, KJ didn’t suffer serious injuries.
More importantly, he enjoys being driven and working hard…
According to KJ,
“If you’re not working and you have too much time on your hands, that’s when you start developing bad habits. You see it all the time. Going to certain events, you definitely see people who need to reel it in.
“I’m not scared of being forgotten. I could quite happily walk out of here and go back to New Zealand. I’d be with my boys, I’d be with my family, and it’d be great.
“But I’m competitive. I want to be successful and I don’t want to have time off. Success for me is creating interesting things that other people are interested in. And making money, to be completely honest.”

KJ Apa loves adventures!
“I’m a thrill-seeker. I’m keen on adventurous stuff, like bungee jumping. I still get nervous— you can’t help it when you’re falling a hundred meters—and I feel nerves every day on set. But I think if you don’t feel nervous about something, it’s not important to you.”
KJ wants to be like The Rock!
“I was talking to my sister about this, I was like, ‘The guy’s always in a good mood from what I can see in his interviews, I wonder if he’s ever [not happy], I wish I could be like that, always in a good mood.”
We get you, KJ…We get you.
He loves dogs!
Just like Ethan Montgomery in the comedy-drama film, a dog always makes him happy. A scroll through his Instagram profile is enough to show how much he adores dogs!
KJ also loves to play his guitar. He even took it to deal with his nerves while auditioning for Riverdale.
“I feel most comfortable when I have a guitar in my hand. When I auditioned for Riverdale and did a screen test, I decided to take my guitar in there because I knew it would calm me down.”
You Know We Are Saving The Best For The Last…
KJ loves his dad, is inspired by him and interestingly, uses him to get emotional while shooting!
“My dad is my biggest role model. His legitimate favourite thing to do is hang out with his kids and his wife. When I need to get emotional in scenes, all I need to do is imagine my dad sitting at a café alone, drinking a coffee.”
