Who Is Caitlyn Jenner?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few years, you’ll have heard of Caitlyn Jenner. Former Olympian Caitlyn was born William Bruce Jenner on 28th October 1949 in New York. She is 70 years old (though you wouldn’t think it!)
She was known as Bruce Jenner up until June 2015. This is when she officially announced her transition.
Early Life
Ms Jenner was diagnosed with dyslexia as a young child, something she has attributed to helping her be more successful at sports:
“If I wasn’t dyslexic, I probably wouldn’t have won the (Olympic) Games. If I had been a better reader, then that would have come easily, sports would have come easily, and I never would have realized that the way you get ahead in life is hard work.”
That’s pretty inspirational!
Olympics
Jenner trained extensively to become an Olympic athlete, competing in trials across the country.
In 1976, Jenner became the US champion at the Olympic Games in Montreal, winning the gold medal.
Did you know that Caitlyn Jenner started the tradition of taking a flag from a spectator and carrying it around during a victory lap? Now you do!
Most notably for her TV career, in 2007 Ms Jenner began appearing in the hit reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, alongside her then-wife Kris Jenner, daughters Kendall and Kylie and her Kardashian step-children.
Transition
In an interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015, Caitlyn came out as a transgender woman. She explained how she had struggled with gender dysmorphia since her youth. Subsequently, Caitlyn debuted her new image, name and began using feminine pronouns.
Caitlyn Jenner Girlfriend History
Caitlyn Jenner’s relationship history is quite complicated, to say the least! Firstly, she married Chrystie Crownover in 1972 and had two children called Burt and Casey Jenner. The couple divorced in early 1981.
Secondly, Caitlyn Jenner’s girlfriend after Chrystie was actress Linda Thompson. Subsequently, the pair married in early 1981. Jenner and Thompson have two children together, Brandon and Brody. The couple sadly divorced after only five years of marriage.
Next came Ms Jenner’s most high-profile relationship. Kris Kardashian (at the time) was Caitlyn Jenner’s girlfriend for just five months before they got married in April 1991. Caitlyn and Kris have two biological children together, Kendall and Kylie.
The pair famously split in 2013 and officially divorced in early 2015, just before Caitlyn announced her new name and transition.
Ms Jenner’s Girlfriend Now
There’s plenty more drama to be found here! Businessperson Sophia Hutchins currently lives with Caitlyn in a luxury Malibu mansion.
At just 23 years old, Ms Jenner’s rumoured girlfriend is 47 years her junior. They met in 2015 through their shared make-up artist and hair stylist. Ms Hutchins is also a transgender woman.
The pair have never confirmed that they are in an official relationship. In an interview, Sophia said:
“We’re partners in everything we do, we’re inseparable, we’re business partners, we live together, we share a dog, we share family, we share a life together.”
That sounds like a relationship admission to us!
…Or does it?
Sophia has since come out explicitly stating that they are NOT in a romantic relationship! The young businesswoman has stated that, instead of being Caitlyn Jenner’s girlfriend, she is actually Ms Jenner’s live-in manager.
In fact, Ms Hutchins has stated that she has actually just started a relationship with a 30-year-old Harvard graduate and Wall Street businessman.
Awkward!
The pair do seem to have a great deal of respect for each other. In short, Sophia said it was Caitlyn’s coming out interview that gave her the confidence to come out herself.
And what does Ms Jenner have to say about Sophia?
“Over the last few years, Sophia has been my best friend, family, and confidant. She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.”
What lovely sentiments!
It seems that, for now anyway, Ms Jenner’s girlfriend situation is single. Who knows how this story could develop further though?
