The BBC One ballroom show heading to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom later this month, a change in venue which marks a significant milestone for the programme as the celebs aim for the final, and the 53-year-old sports presenter plans to join in the fun whether he makes it past this weekend or not.
He told the Daily Star newspaper:
‘I’ve always wanted to go to Blackpool. I was going along to support the others. I’m going to Blackpool whatever.
‘I’ve booked the hotel and I’ve paid for it myself and I’m going to cheer everyone else on.
‘If I’m there as part of the competition that would be amazing and be a bonus but I’m going anyway to cheer them all on’.

Mike survived the dreaded dance-off again last weekend after finding himself in the bottom two for the third time in a row, and he knows there’s no guarantee he and his pro partner Katya Jones will survive another round.
They’ll be dancing the Paso Doble to ‘Tamacun’ by Rodrigo y Gabriela on Saturday (09.11.19) in a bid to land a spot on the coveted show.
The broadcaster has come under heavy criticism from viewers during his run on ‘Strictly’ due to his limited skills, but he has stayed upbeat and defiant.
He previously said:
‘It’s an entertainment show, we’re all trying our best, you’re not really competing against anybody else, you compete against yourself to try and learn to get better and better each week, even if its just learning a couple of new steps.
‘As a non-dancer all I can do is put the hours in, do my best and get through it. You have to rise above the abuse on social media, that’s one of the sad things about social media’.
