Stormzy Instagram: His Former Relationship With Maya Jama
We’re looking at Stormzy’s Instagram to reminisce (and probably shed a few tears) about his former relationship with presenter Maya Jama.
The King of grime and one of the best radio presenters out there, Maya Jama and Stormzy were the 21st century’s answer to Romeo and Juliet (without the fatal ending, of course). From their loved-up displays on Instagram, to the rapper writing a song about his beau, there’s no couple that were more #relationshipgoals that Maya and Stormz.

But, like all good things, the couple recently came to an end. After four years of dating, the pair surprised us all (and broke our hearts) by announcing they were parting ways. Just days after Maya celebrated her 25th birthday – and everything looked hunky dory – the Radio 1 Xtra DJ’s publicist revealed:
‘Yes, I can confirm the relationship has ended and Maya has separated from Stormzy.’
As we all attempt to wrap our heads about the beloved pair’s sudden separation, here’s a look back at their love story, as told by Stormzy’s Instagram page…
Where did they meet?
The pair met in October 2014 and were going out by January the following year, Jama revealed:
“We met at Red Bull Culture Clash, I fancied him from the start and tried doing the the whole friend situation first, and then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me. It was a childish phase. And then one day, we just kissed, and that was that.”
At the time, Stormzy had already achieved success as a rapper and Maya was making a name for herself in TV, working for MTV.

Stormzy Wrote A Song For Maya
Stormzy proved he was serious boyfriend material by making the ultimate romantic gesture and writing a song about his GF back in 2016. ‘Birthday Girl’ was an ode to the radio presenter on her 22nd birthday. The lyrics included:‘Cause I’ll be right here 12:01, And everbody is gone and your birthday is done’. TOO CUTE.

They Moved In Together
In 2018, the pair moved out of the flat they shared together in London, bought their first home together and welcomed a pet dog, which they called Enzo. In order to keep their relationship in check, Maya revealed that the couple try to stay off their phone when they’re together:
‘We’ve tried to set a two-hour limit, but that’s difficult when it’s your main contact for work and friends. As soon as I get home the telly goes on.’
It seemed to be a winning formula as Stormzy previously hinted that marriage was on the cards for the pair:
‘I’m still so young but I want to propose, it’s going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best.’

The Pair Broke Up Just Two Days Later
Unfortunately, the beloved couple announced just two days later that they were sadly parting ways. After the news broke, Jama revealed how celebrity breakups are portrayed unrealistically in the papers:
“I used to read magazines when I was little and see all these Hollywood people break up and they didn’t feel like real people.”
“And then when you’re in that position, you’re like, oh shit, it’s very real. Everybody just sees it as entertainment. These things never last that long. People find something else to talk about.”
“I forgot how much I loved just literally being in a house with loads of my friends, eating, talking, drinking. I was like, I miss this a little bit. I’m having fun,’ she added.
“I’m scared to date. I haven’t been single in so long, how the f**k do you flirt any more? I’ve been basically with my friends 24/ 7.”
