Love Island‘s Anna Vakili: Everything You Need To Know

Dubbed the British Kim Kardashian (is that a compliment?), this is all you need to know about Love Island 2019 contestant, Anna Valiki.

Sun, sea and ‘Someone’s got a texxxtttttt’ – sounds like the ideal summer, no? Love Island is back on our screens and one of its most controversial contestants is the tall Anna.

Before entering the villa…

Anna is a twenty-eight year old pharmacist from London, however, she was born to Iranian parents –  who, according to Anna, are getting ‘on her case’ about finding Mr Perfect and settling down.

However, Anna is more into the partying lifestyle, which can be seen all over her social media accounts, especially Instagram.

Similarly to her it is actually social media that made Anna part of the celebrity world, with her having over 39,000 followers on Instagram before even entering the Love Island villa! One of them being fellow contestant and her couple partner Sherif Lanre, naturally…

This is thanks to a specific incident with her sister and some Iranian footballers; speaking about it, Anna said:

‘I ended up on the Iranian News earlier this year [because of it], […] Suddenly my followers went up by 20,000 and I started being tagged in fan pages!’

Not all about the partying…

Anna doesn’t believe that she is like ‘anyone who has been on the show before’. She went on to say:

‘I have the whole glam look, I’m fun but at the same time I feel like I have more to me than that. I studied hard and I’ve got my masters. I’m a pharmacist and I have a Middle Eastern background’.

She definitely does love a full face of make up – THOSE LIPS – but people have previously called out Love Island for their lack of body diversity. It is no lie that a lot of the previous contestants on the show have had slim and athletic figures. Is this British version of Kim K a way to break those barriers and make curvy girls on television more of a normality?

However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Anna. She was recently in the middle of a media storm – see what we did there? – after TV presenter Jameela Jamil called out Love Island bosses for casting Anna as the token plus size contestant.

Now she’s in the Love Island villa…

Talking about her ideal man, Anna has stated that he:

‘would be tall, good-looking, dark hair and dark eyes. He would be fit. Personality wise, he would be loyal, kind and emotional. I like the soppy guys. I’m not into cocky boys at all, I like smart and funny’.

Unlike fellow contestant, air hostess Amy Hart, Anna has been in continuous serious relationships since she was just seventeen years-old! The longest amount of time that she has been single is nine months.

After failing to pick any of the boys from the line up herself due to the fact that none of them were ‘tall enough’, Sherif chose to couple up with Anna (after failing to be picked initially AND then be ditched by Amber).
