6. Charlie Hogan (Gary Riley) – THEN
At the crux of Stand by Me, we have a race to find a dead body. How does word get out about that particular corpse, you ask? Why, that’s down to blabbermouth Charlie Hogan.
Played by Gary Riley, it’s Charlie who first discovered the dead body and then proceeded to tell his pal Billy. Of course, listening nearby is young Vern, who then blabs to his pals, too.
Despite finding some success with role in the likes of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and then Summer School, Riley actually decided to quit acting in 1996 following his turn in Mark Wahlberg’s Fear.
Since then, the now-former actor has largely stayed out of the spotlight and kept a low profile bar a few appearances on the Adventure Club Podcast.
