When Chopra was just thirteen years old, she moved to the United States to live with her aunt.

She moved countries to increase her education, studying at schools in Massachusetts, Iowa, and Queens, New York.

She has admitted that she was bullied at school:
“I was a gawky kid, had low self-esteem, came from a modest middle-class background.”
Erm, why?
After three years at school in America, she decided to move back to her family in India.
