Mrs Gloop (Franziska Troegner) – Then
Mrs Gloop is the mother of the greedy brat, Augustus Gloop, who gets himself stuck in the chocolate pipe. She, like her son, is not a likeable character and does not seem to understand how encouraging her obese son to overeat is disastrously unhealthy.
Actress Franziska Troegner is a German actress born in Berlin-Mitte and the majority of her acting credits are in Germany. A few years after her role as Mrs Gloop, Franziska published an autobiography Fürs Schubfach zu dick which translates to: ‘Too fat to be typecast’.
She is the daughter of actor Werner Trogener and studied acting at the Berliner Ensemble from 1973 to 1976 where she stayed as a member for twenty years. She is bilingual and cam speak German, English and Russian!
