8. Barbara Bel Geddes
Barbara Bel Geddes played the role of the matriarch of the family, Ellie Ewing Farlow.

An Oscar nominated actress in to ’40s, Barbara came to the show already having had a long successful career in Hollywood and Broadway. She was known for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’ and on Broadway’s, ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’.

Immediately after ‘Dallas’ finished, Barbara retired and settled down in Maine where she worked as an artist, children’s author and greeting cards creator. She passed away in 2005 due to lung cancer at 82 years old.
