Megan McKenna has been “putting everything” into her music career following the death of her ex-boyfriend Mike Thalassitis, and admits she is “doing OK”.
The 26-year-old country singer – who previously admitted she was in “complete shock” at hearing her ex had been found dead aged 26 – has been “putting everything” into her music career recently, and admits penning tunes is “like therapy” for her.
When asked on ‘Loose Women’ how she is getting on, she replied:
“I’m doing OK, thank you for asking.
“I’ve actually just come back from Nashville, I’ve been putting everything into my work.
“Nashville is my happy place, but I’m doing good.
“Writing music is like therapy for me. It is a way of getting my emotions out on paper.”
Megan, who dated Mike last year, took to Instagram shortly after his passing to pay tribute to the former ‘Love Island’ star, and admitted she was still “trying to come to terms” with his death.
She wrote:
“Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.
“I can’t believe I’m even writing this post.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family. Rest in peace Mike. X (sic)”
Mike’s body was found in woodland near his Essex home in March, and just weeks later his manager Dave Read claimed the star’s break up with Megan had “hit him really hard”.
He said:
“I don’t want to pretend I know all of Mike’s medical history because I don’t.
“But I will say that he was very down after he split from Megan McKenna.
“He openly admitted that he had really fallen for her. She was his first proper girlfriend and, although he’d dated other people in the past, it was the first time he’d fallen in love.
“The break-up hit him really hard and he was down for a few months.”
