9. Self Driving Car

In the show, K.I.T.T. was a self-riding car, so in the show, the car playing kit had to appear self-driving.
In order to do this, Barris designed and created a right-seat driving position inside the on-set car that dipped below the dashboard.

A stunt driver would then placed in a special seat that was low enough to avoid detection, but high enough to see where he was going.
Barris had a lot of jobs on the show, in later seasons he was also in charge of creating different models of the car.
These cars had to be able to perform specific stunts that could make for more individual action sequences.
