This is an easy one! Most of us put our hairpins in with the curvy side facing up and the smooth side on our head, when in fact you’re supposed to do it the other way around!

The grooved side is the bottom of the pin and should face towards the scalp. And it actually works much better! It grips your hair a lot better.
