Back in the olden days (you know, before Netflix, NowTV and Amazon Prime were a thing) people were forced to rely on actual channels if they wanted to watch TV!

I know, I know; It sounds like complete torture, am I right? While we are spoilt for choice nowadays, back then it was pretty much soaps or nothing…

Thankfully the soaps available in the ’70s were pretty darn good, but things have changed a lot since then and even the stars are almost unrecognisable! Dying to see what they look like now? Allow us…

1. Sue Nicholls (Marilyn Gates in Crossroads) – THEN

Sue Nicholls became well known for her portrayal of Marilyn Gates in the hit British soap opera Crossroads, which first aired in 1964!

Not only did Nicholls win us over with her acting talents, but she stole our hearts when she belted out her original song “Where Will You Be?” which eventually reached number 17 in the UK Singles Chart!

After witnessing an overwhelmingly positive reaction to her music, Nicholls put her acting career on hold and attempted to make it as a cabaret singer before returning to the stage as a pantomime star.

These days, Sue Nicholls is best known for playing the role of hairdresser Audrey in Coronation Street; but did you know the actress wed her co-star Mark Eden – who played Alan Bradley?!
