10. Joanna Lumley (Elaine Perkins in Coronation Street) – THEN
Posh girl Elaine Perkins, was the daughter of Bessie Street School headmaster Wilfred Perkins, and as you might remember, had a one-time fling with Ken Barlow during his teaching days!
Unfortunately for poor old Ken, he was much more interested in Elaine than she was in him and while he was offering her the world (A.K.A. a trip to the countryside) she was too busy travelling Europe with other men. Awkward.
Joanna Lumley’s stint on Corrie came to an end after only eight episodes, but her impact on Ken lasted a lifetime! The world renowned actress soon found herself starring in a multitude of films and television shows including The Tale of Sweeney Todd, Alice In Wonderland, Sensitive Skin and Late Bloomers.
She is also heavily involved in politics and charity work – in 2010 she donated £1,000 to Caroline Lucas’s campaign to become the first Green MP!
