Now this one is stunning! Monochrome is always a winner in my eyes. The simplicity of the fitted shape and simple straps make this an all round winner. The subtle train at the back makes it that little bit more extravagant, perfect for Roberts to float on to the stage in to pick up her award. She accepted the Oscar for Best Actress in 2001, for her role in Erin Brockovich- what a film! She made sure history was made with a dress and price tag like that!
In 2017, Roberts revealed to People that she kept the gown hidden away in a box under her bed so that she could give it to her daughter one day. What a lucky little girl!
Winslet showed up to the 2007 awards in a mint green Valentino dress, hand- picked by her daughter. For a little one, she did her Mum proud (it could have been a LOT worse!) It’s very simple, yet effective- sometimes less is more!
