Louis Theroux – THEN
Step aside, Fred Phelps – because there’s a leading man more important than you in this story. During the documentary, we see Louis – bravely, in my opinion – interview the members of the Phelps family, and of the church, and it unsurprisingly doesn’t go down too well. When Theroux persistently pushed Fred Phelps into answering his questions, Fred labelled him an “evil”: because, sure, Louis is the real problem here…
Louis is still making hard-hitting documentaries today (as we all know), and is married to his wife, Nancy, and living with their three children. He’s also written a book, The Call of the Weird: Travels in American Subcultures, and has won various awards for his work. I’m feeling a Theroux documentary Netflix binge coming on, aren’t you?
