Libby Phelps – THEN
Libby, granddaughter of Fred, was raised with her sisters under the authority of the church during the time of Louis’s documentary – until the age of 25, when she saw the light and ran for the hills. She has since explored many media outlets to tell her story, and has released a book Girl on a Wire: Walking the Line Between Faith and Freedom in the Westboro Baptist Church (now there’s a mouthful).
She’s found happiness in adulthood with her husband and now works as a physical therapist – whilst promoting her book, of course, which has actually got some pretty decent reviews. She’s very active on her Twitter account, and her feed is littered with good cheer, posts about her book and adorable videos of her son. Aw.
