Mrs. Blatherwick (Imelda Staunton) – THEN

This woman could blather all day if given the chance. You’d think being in the kitchen all day cooking for so many kids would make her tired but that was never the case! She did care for the kids though, making them soup when they were ill, even if that meant falling victim to one of their cruel pranks and being tied up!
Best of all, she was totally unbothered by Nanny McPhee’s sudden appearances. For everyone else, it was a jumpscare but for Mrs. Blatherwick, it was just a momentary distraction while she carried on cooking her broths. What a legend.

Who would ever think that the unimportant cook would be a Commander of the British Empire in real life though? Yep, Imelda Staunton has got all the awards you could imagine nicely tucked under her belt. She’s currently filming Maleficent II and Downton Abbey!
