Sea levels rise in Miami, Florida – BEFORE
When it comes to vulnerable cities, Miami hits top of the list.
The glamorous area sits at sea level, making it susceptible to the negative effects of climate change and has a very high risk of flooding.
In the last ten years alone, the Atlantic Ocean, which surrounds Miami’s coast has risen approx. 9 inches.
As global temperatures get even higher, sea level is predicted to rise by over one foot by 2045.
Believe it or not, if the projected sea level increase occurs, it would put 1/5th of Miami underwater when the tide is high – that’s pretty hair-raising.
