8. Laura Perez.
Like some of the other stars of the show, Laura had a bumpy ride during and after her transformation. She and her husband at the time experienced problems; he didn’t support her dreams to open her own makeup beauty school. Fast forward a few years and Perez is happily married to a new man.
On the show she spoke of her then boyfriend:
“Joey and me seem to be fighting more than ever. And I want to be more independent. And get a job, and have a career. He doesn’t want me to do that.
“I told [Joey] I want to go to beauty school, and he got really upset. But now that I can go out, I don’t want to just stay home all day. I’m not 600 pounds anymore. So I don’t need to be trapped. But it’s gotten so bad that I don’t think there’s a whole lot of hope for us right now.”
Speaking of her new relationship:
“Thank god he is a great hardworking, loving, caring man that puts me first,” she wrote. “I’m blessed to have him.”
