8. Mark McGwire – THEN
Babe Ruth. The most high profile name in all of baseball, right? Well, as a fun little fact for you, Mack McGwire is actually the player with the most frequent home runs in the history of the sport – putting him above the second-placed Babe.
Then again, while McGwire’s figures are simply stunning to look at, he would admit in 2010 that he had used performance-enhancing drugs for a large part of his career. Which, y’know, kinda taints a lot of the brilliant hits fans had seen from him throughout his run at the top of the sport.
Since retiring from playing in 2001, McGwire began a coaching career in 2010; his most recent position being the bench coach for the San Diego Padres.
Having left the Padres in 2018, McGwire now seems focussed on his Mark McGwire Foundation for Children.
