The original camp was set up near Cairns in the far North of Queensland, at a place called Mission Beach.

The mission most people are on near Cairns includes finding themselves, buying some wavey garms, and creating highly curated Instagram content- it’s like a venus fly trap for backpackers on gap years.

46. Since series 2 it’s been filmed in the Springbrook National Park

Sure it sounds lovely, and looks like a chill walk, but this is Australia- there’s danger lurking behind every tree.

And if you do get bitten, or just freaked out by the gigantic hairy wildlife, civilisation (and an airport to carry you far, far away) isn’t exactly close at hand.

I can only presume these people are desperately kayaking away from some of Australia’s terrifying wildlife, bird eating spiders or the like. Keep paddling you idiots, those waters are full of horrors too.
