The industry has its flaws, but to its credit is pretty strict on how long kids can work.
When I was ten my bed time was eight thirty, so it makes total sense. But this curfew made the shooting schedule tricky, especially with so much of the story taking place after dark.

The worst swear word a ten year old should know if ‘crud’. Maybe ‘crap’, at a push. The producers thought the same and banned swearing on set, much to co-star Joe Pesci’s frustration.
