After having engaging in an affair with Prince Charles during his marriage to Diana, Camilla was branded a homewrecker by the nation – but were her actions malicious or not?
1. Prince Charles Was Camilla’s First Love!
Camilla Shand first met Prince Charles when they both attended a polo match in Windsor in 1970. At the time she joked:
“My great-grandmother was the mistress of your great-great-grandfather. I feel we have something in common.”

The couple began dating almost immediately, but after Charles joined the Royal Navy the following year, the pair decided it was best to split up.
2. Andrew Parker Bowles Became Her First Husband!
In 1973, Camilla married a highly regarded British army officer named Andrew Parker Bowles – according to a former classmate, this was always Camilla’s agenda.

The now-actress, Lynn Redgrave claimed:
“landing a rich husband was the top of the agenda. Camilla wanted to have fun, but she also wanted to marry well because, in her mind, that would be the most fun of all.”
3. Camilla’s Return To Prince Charles!
Even though she was clearly seeing Prince Charles behind her husband’s back, Camilla waited until Charles’s divorce to Diana was finalised before she divorced Andrew Parker – which set things in motion for their (legitimate) future together!
