Joel Dommett was forced to pull out of ‘I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp’ after getting smashed in the head by a sign during rehearsals.
The 32-year-old presenter of the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ companion show was badly knocked by a sign as severe winds played havoc in Australia during rehearsals, and was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital where he received seven stitches in his head.
However, Joel – who came second in the 2016 series of the Australian jungle reality show – still had his sense of humour intact as he joked about having a “half day” and watched his colleagues Scarlett Moffatt – who beat Joel to be crowned Queen of the Jungle two years ago – and presenter Joe Swash from the comfort of his hotel room.
Joel reassured his followers and viewers that he will be returning to the show on Wednesday night (21.11.18).
Alongside a picture of himself getting fixed up in the medical room and a selfie taken afterwards, he wrote on Instagram:
“Unfortunately due to unforeseen windy circumstances blowing the set onto my head during rehearsals, I won’t be able to present Extra Camp this evening. I had seven stitches like a big brave boy and I’ll be back tomorrow. To be honest I’m less worried about my health and more worried that the show will be better without me. Half a day off school to go home and watch neighbours! Woo! GOOD LUCK @scarlettmoffatt and @realjoeswashy (sic)”
‘I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp’ – which delivers all the gossip from inside the jungle – is aired directly after the main show every night from 10.00pm on ITV2.
