85,000 people have diabetes

The percentage of the population living with diabetes accounts for 15.6% which is 2.6 times higher than Denver, the lowest percentage (6%).

According to Fleet Feet El Paso is also the most inactive city – resulting from the fact that walking anywhere is impossible!

This lack of space to walk and exercise has been seen as a factor in the obesity problem.

They’ve even started a program intended to reduce childhood obesity!

41. Grand Rapids, Michigan

Grand Rapids, the largest city in West Michigan, had a shocking obesity rating of 34.8%.

Over 60% of adults in Kent County were overweight or obese – an astronomical amount!

40. Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Wisconsin city has not done too well on our list either, after a scathing report by Chris Spahr:

‘As of 2014, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services estimated that 37.2% of the city of Milwaukee’s residents were obese, compared to 32.7% in Milwaukee County, 29.3% in Wisconsin and 27.7% nationally.’
