25. The Skunk Ape
Eighteen years ago, a woman mailed photographs of what she thought was an ”ape” to her county sheriff’s office and claimed it had taken apples from her porch.

The photo, however, looks nothing like any known species of ape and it has since been named the Skunk Ape by Big Foot theorists.
26. Pterodactyl In The American Civil War?!
In the midst of the American Civil War in 1864, a group of soldiers posed alongside an unnamed creature they claimed to have shot and killed.

What’s unusual about this picture is that the creature looks eerily similar to a pterodactyl: a flying reptile that went extinct 136.4 million years ago.
