27. Myrcella’s death
I think it’s safe to say that no one was all that impressed with the Dorne plot that was hatched during series 5 – particularly avid book readers.
Not exactly what people had in mind
The events that happened in the show were notorious for straying from the original source material – much to the dismay of many viewers. (It really sucked.)

It was during series 5 that Cersei received veiled threat from Dorne indicating that her only daughter – Myrcella – was in imminent mortal danger.
Sorry, Cersei
Jaime was quickly sent forth to bring Myrcella back to King’s Landing, where she could be safe.

But just as it all seemed to be resolved, Myrcella was taken ill on the boat journey back to the capitol. It was shortly after revealed that she has been poisoned by Ellaria Sand – who desired justice for her dead lover, Oberyn Martell.
Not sure this makes sense, Ellaria…
This was a death that certainly wasn’t expected – particularly since Myrcella is still alive in the books. Her dying in the arms of Jaime – her father – made the spectacle all that harder to swallow. Especially since Myrcella had just admitted to knowing the truth about her incestuous parentage!
